Henrik absolutely loves to sculpt with clay, he plays with it every single day. I thought it would be fun to hone his love for clay with a simple Thanksgiving craft project. We decided to make forest animal placecards. Henrik and I had so much fun making these little guys and they were so easy to make.
If you’d like to make animal placecards here’s what you’ll need:
*DAS modeling clay
*white acrylic paint (optional)
*paint brush (optional)
*fine point sharpie pen
Here’s what we did to make the placecards:
We rolled the clay out in a quarter inch thick square, we then cut the shape of the animals with the cookie cutters. To harden the clay we let the animals dry overnight on a cookie sheet. This part was hard for Henrik, he kept asking me every hour if they were dry.
The next day we painted the clay animals (this isn’t necessary, but I think it makes everything look more uniform). After the paint dried I drew fur, features, and our names on the animals with the sharpie. So easy huh?
Isn’t this Thanksgiving place mat designed by Fifth and Hazel so cute? It literally took me one minute to download and print it. You can purchase place mats and much more at Caravan shoppe, the most brilliant shop idea, love it!
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
